Research proves that when people take a break from their fitness routine during the winter months, they experience the following:
- A 20 percent decrease in cardiopulmonary fitness within just three to eight weeks of not exercising
- A loss of whatever advantages they gained over time
- Go back to couch potato fitness level within three to six months of not exercising
- Difficulty losing the winter weight gained even when they start exercising again
Another good reason to get exercising in winter is to lessen your chances of suffering from seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which is thought to be caused by a combination of lack of sun, activity and proper nutrition – especially getting enough vitamin D. Regular, moderate exercise will release essential endorphins to keep the blues at a minimum, not to mention doing this outdoors will top up your vitamin D levels.
Vivobarefoot shoes let your feet behave naturally; allowing you to move through your day-to-day as if you were barefoot. Every shoe Vivobarefoot make has an ultra-thin, flexible, puncture resistant sole and wide toe box, so your feet can thrive as nature intended.
