Sportivate comes to Paradise Pool

This February will see the launch of two new and exciting classes that will help keep young mums and young adults active in Ely well into the New Year. The classes will be held at Paradise Pool and are part of the Sportivate initiative.

  • Sportivate is a £32 million Lottery programme that gives 14-25 year olds access to six-week courses in a range of activities
  • Aiming to increase participation amongst teenagers and young adults, whilst providing them with a safe and educational environment to participate in

Paradise Pool will be running three courses:

  • Sportivate young mums programme

An aqua fit course available for mums aged between 14-24 years of age, with children aged 5 months or over. The six-week programme launches on 24th February and will take place every Friday at 12noon costing only £2 per session

  • Sportivate Swim

There will be two courses running for six weeks for 14-18 year olds and 19-24 year olds. The 14-18 year olds session will start from 22nd February and take place every Wednesday at 3pm, and the 19-24 year olds sessions will start from 25th February and take place every Saturday at 12pm

  • Future Lifesavers

This course is open to 14-24 year olds and will prepare those taking part for the National Lifeguard Qualification. The hour-long sessions will start from 25th February and will take place every Saturday at 11am costing only £2 per session

  • The Sportivate programme is part of the Play strand of Sport England’s mass participation legacy programme ‘Places, People Play’, which was launched on 15 November 2010
  • Sportivate will provide a range of attractive and sustainable sporting activities for 14-25 year olds who are not choosing to participate in sport during their own time, or are doing so for a very limited amount of time
  • Paradise Pool offers swimming lessons from the age of 5 months upwards and adult swimming lessons are only £3 per session

These sessions will be high energy, very social and of real benefit to those attending. All sessions will be rewarding but the Rookie Lifeguard sessions can prepare for the National Lifeguard Qualification and a possible exciting future career.
