Flipping ‘eck! Britons to use over 32 million eggs and one billion grams of flour this Pancake Day
On Shrove Tuesday (17th February) over 128 million pancakes are to be consumed across the UK, utilising 32.05 million eggs and 1,602,000,000 grams of flour. To combat this, British Military Fitness (BMF), the UK’s undisputed leader in outdoor fitness, is offering people a free fitness class to counteract the overindulgence.
- With the average person said to eat two pancakes on the day, and a pancake of lemon and sugar equaling 119 calories, this would be an extra 2 billion calories consumed in the UK
- BMF runs regular classes in over 140 parks across the UK, and is offering people a free hour long fitness session at any of these locations on Saturday 21st February to work off these extra calories

Rob Love, Managing Director of British Military Fitness, commented:
“Pancake Day is a great tradition and one which many of us celebrate. However, people shouldn’t have to feel too guilty about having some extra treats and that’s why we want to invite them to a free fitness session, where they can burn up to 600 calories in an hour!”
