Quirk joins WPP
EXCITING AND INNOVATIVE’ MARKETING AGENCY QUIRK AGREES TO SELL CONTROLLING INTEREST TO LEADING GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS GROUP.
Leading marketing consultancy Quirk London has today announced a deal with NASDAQ- and LSE-listed WPP Plc which will see the world leader in advertising and marketing services take a controlling interest, subject to regulatory approval, in the renownedly entrepreneurial and independent company. Founded in South Africa in 1999, from where it has quickly grown into Africa’s largest independent advertising agency, Quirk opened its doors in London in 2005. The UK business has since established a unique position in the competitive UK market, assisting global brands connect with new audiences in developing markets by leveraging its broad African network and worldwide consulting experience.
This investment aligns well with WPP’s strategy of developing its services in fast-growing and important markets and sectors and strengthening its capabilities in digital media. WPP’s digital revenues (including associates) were well over US$6 billion in 2013, representing almost 35% of the Group’s total revenues of US$17.3 billion. WPP has set a target of 40-45% of revenue to be derived from digital in the next five years.

- Quirk’s unaudited consolidated revenues for the year ended 28 February 2014 were GBP 8 million, with gross assets at the same date of approximately GBP 4 million
- WPP is the world’s largest communications services group with billings of US$72.3 billion and revenues of US$17.3 billion
