Do you want a flake in that? Burger Ice Cream on the menu for National Burger Day
Over 160 restaurants nationwide offering 20% off burgers to celebrate UK’s first National Burger Day
Britain’s obsession with the burger has been given a seal of approval with 27th August being christened the nation’s first National Burger Day. Brainchild of Mr Hyde, the daily men’s lifestyle email, National Burger Day is marking the occasion with a specially created burger-flavoured ice cream.
Created by ice cream specialist Sorbitium, the burger-flavoured ice cream aims to celebrate everything good about the UK’s obsession with the mighty burger – quality, creativity, innovation and flavour. The burger-flavoured ice cream will be available for one day only at the National Burger Day ‘Tweat Up’ in Dalston Yard on 27th August.
Over 160 restaurants across the country are backing National Burger Day by offering a 20% discount upon presentation of a National Burger Day voucher. Some of the UK’s finest burger restaurants including MEATliquor, Honest Burgers, Byron and Handmade Burger Company have thrown their support behind the national day. The full list of participating restaurants and respective printable vouchers is available on the National Burger Day website.
National Burger Day also sees Mr Hyde partner with Tweat Up for a burger-only event at Dalston Yard. The UK’s insatiable appetite was confirmed when all 1200 tickets were snapped up just hours after release. Lucky ticket holders to the sold out event will be able to sample burgers from MEATliquor, Byron, Dirty Burger, Bleecker St Burger, Disco Bistro, Honest Burgers, Mother Flipper and Slider Bar. To wash it all down – Jameson pickleback bar, Meantime brewery, craft beers, interesting wines and festival cocktails will all be there to provide the perfect accompaniment to the meaty celebration.
Jonathan Pile, Editor of Mr Hyde said:
“The Americans already have two national burger days and we have zilch. The UK’s appetite for burgers has grown exponentially in the last few years, we’re seeing new burger-only restaurants popping up in London and across the country every few months. In naming 27th August as National Burger Day and kicking off with this legendary burger ice cream we are celebrating the ingenuity and versatility of the British burger and giving Britons a chance to lay claim to the burger as a British staple.”
