The JJ Foundation has been set up by Johnny Jones Chairman and Founder of JJ Media who built the foundation based on his own experiences as a photographer. Johnny won his first photography competition age 11 and then went on to be offered jobs by Conde Nast and Vogue, before becoming Chairman of JJ Media who now have 10 film, photographic & event spaces, lighting, digital camera hire and a locations agency.
Johnny Jones, Chairman and Founder of JJ Media Group commented:
‘I believe as a successful business owner it’s our responsibility to ‘give something back’ and help young people in the pursuit of their dreams. There are many aspects and career paths in our industry – and students may not realise that being a photographer is a business itself.
In my younger days, I was inspired and encouraged by art directors, copywriters, video editors, stylists, film directors, artists and photographers. When I look back on my career path, armed with a simple portfolio, I was given many opportunities that might have passed me by had it not been for all these creative people willing to give me a chance. I hope the JJ Foundation can do the same.’
Josh Jones, CEO of JJ Media Group commented:
‘We are very fortunate to work in such a vibrant and exciting industry, something we do not take for granted. It’s also a very tough industry to get into, unless you know someone who can cut you in, it’s very competitive. We wish to support emerging talent by offering our services to free of charge to help young people build experience and exposure to the industry which will help their future careers.
We established the foundation to centralise our charitable efforts, as a team we naturally choose to support charities in various ways. We are going to grow the foundation by building partnerships with select charities and increase the support we bring to them. To do this we will be offering parts of our group’s services free of charge as well as concentrating the team’s charitable efforts into one place to increase awareness.
Our industry is fast-paced and demanding. As a business we want all of our team to feel they have the time to personally give something back to a cause they believe in. Using our charitable partnerships all staff have the option to take one paid days leave per month to support a charity.’
