About BrewDog

We were bored of the industrially brewed lagers and stuffy ales that dominate the UK market. We decided the best way to fix this undesirable predicament was to brew our own beers. Consequently in April 2007 BrewDog was born. Both only 24 at the time, we leased a building, got some scary bank loans, spent all our money on stainless steel and started making some hardcore beers.

  • The new brewery was largely funded by a unique online IPO dubbed ‘Equity for Punks’ that allowed craft beer fans to buy shares in the business directly from the company’s website, raising £2.2m
  • One of the fastest growing businesses in the UK, BrewDog predicts a further 250 per cent growth in sales in 2013

James Watt, cofounder of BrewDog commented:

“We’ve got more than six thousand investors from all over the globe thanks to our Equity for Punks programme and the appointment of Neil is a big part of our plan to ensure they see us continue to grow, continue to change minds and continue to ruffle the feathers of the soulless corporate Mafioso that dominate this industry.”

“BrewDog’s aim is to make everyone as passionate about beer as we are. People said this was a fight we couldn’t win, but our continued growth suggests that the wheels of revolution are turning. Neil will be pivotal in helping the craft beer revolution roll on, as we look to expand our craft beer bar network and our craft beer sales on a solid financial footing.”

Neil Simpson commented:

“BrewDog is an incredible business growing at an incredible rate and it’s very exciting to be a part of the global craft beer revolution. I’ve always enjoyed working with James and Martin as an advisor and my new position as FD gives me the chance to make an even bigger impact at BrewDog.”
