About BrewDog

We were bored of the industrially brewed lagers and stuffy ales that dominate the UK market. We decided the best way to fix this undesirable predicament was to brew our own beers. Consequently in April 2007 BrewDog was born. Both only 24 at the time, we leased a building, got some scary bank loans, spent all our money on stainless steel and started making some hardcore beers.

Nordic brew: BrewDog launches new bar in Helsinki following international campaign by locals

BrewDog opens 12th bar this year, with launch of Helsinki bar

BrewDog, Scotland’s largest independent brewery opens the doors to its widely anticipated Helsinki bar today. Located on Tarkk’ampujankatu 20, 00150 Helsinki, the new bar has been vehemently campaigned for online by craft beer-obsessed locals keen to get a BrewDog bar on their doorstep, and is the first bar to be opened in Finland by the brewery.

  • BrewDog Helsinki is completely unique and located in one of the city’s old bank buildings
  • With a capacity for 90 people the bar will feature 18 beers on tap from renowned breweries all over the globe
  • Guest beers include Sierra Nevada and CAP, also showcasing Finnish breweries such as Maku Brewing and Sori Brewery
  • Cheese and meat platters and Finnish sweet dishes will be available
  • Regular ‘Meet the brewer’ events will provide customers with the chance to meet the world’s most creative brewers
  • BrewDog staff will provide brew sessions and beer schools for customers to learn more about craft beer and the brewing process
  • The new Helsinki bar is BrewDog’s twelfth bar launch in 2014. This year BrewDog has opened bars in São Paulo, Tokyo, Sheffield, Gothenburg, Dundee, Florence, Cardiff, Ellon, Clapham Junction, Liverpool and Bologna
  • Hot on the heels of Helsinki, BrewDog is set to expand its international division with a new Barcelona bar opening shortly, and plans for a Berlin bar early next year

BrewDog co-founder James Watt commented:

“BrewDog Helsinki is probably the most keenly anticipated bar we have launched so far. For years craft beer fans in the country have been crying out us to set up a BrewDog home there. Since our Finnish fans crashed our website when we asked for location suggestions for future BrewDog bars, we have been working hard to secure a site. It’s been a hell of a ride creating the perfect location, but we’re thrilled to finally be answering the call of so many passionate beer advocates.”

“There is an insane passion for craft beer in Finland, and we’re thrilled to be setting up a headquarter where all those craft beer mavericks can congregate and revel in their love of beer. It is hugely exciting that we will finally be at the heart of a city where craft beer is king.”

James Watt continued:

“Finland is a hotbed for creativity and passion within the brewing world and at BrewDog Helsinki we will be serving some of the most dedicated craft beer fans in the world, and setting up home alongside some epic Finnish breweries. It is great to be in a city where there is already such excitement and thirst for great craft beer and we want our new bar to ramp that excitement up to fever pitch.”
