Blippar & Your Gym flex their muscles via augmented reality gym membership card

Blippable gym card injects motivation into flagging workouts via interactive content

Your Gym and Blippar are motivating gym-goers via an innovative augmented reality membership card. Forward thinking and customer focused, Your Gym always looks to embrace new technologies and recognised there were new opportunities in the digital age to motivate gym-goers in a more creative way. By working with Blippar they have become the first gym in the UK to apply augmented reality to a membership card.

Your personal motivation service is brought to life by ‘blipping’ the membership card with any iOS or Android device. Once blipped, motivational videos, guides and information appears at your fingers tips to kick-start you on your journey to physical perfection.

A recent survey found 82% of Brits wanted to drop some pounds but on average only 36% of the nation go to the gym at least once a month. Your Gym recognised this and wanted to make visiting the gym a rewarding and fun experience. 51% of consumers reportedly take their smartphones to the gym, so using an augmented reality smartphone app to increase motivation is a logical next step.

Your Gym, based in Richmond, is a brand new fitness programme backed by the science of post-exercise oxygen consumption that is proven to deliver real results. Up to 600 calories can be burned in each session. The programme uses the latest fitness equipment such as TRX suspension training, treadmills, cross trainers, kettlebells, Vipr and free weights, and focuses on toning, losing weight and getting fitter.

In addition to the fun videos of an ‘alternative’ type of personal trainer, called Carl, Your Gym is also offering free membership for a week to everyone who uses the card. The pinnacle of motivation is also on offer where you can position your face on a super-toned body on the front cover of a popular heath magazine, to see just how awesome you could look by going to Your Gym. All 100% shareable to show your friends just how incredible you now look.
