Local leisure centres support a dry January

Perdiswell Park Golf Course and Worcester Swimming Pool are providing their support to members of the Worcester community that are taking the plunge and having a dry, alcohol free, January, with the provision of a free three-day pass to use at the centres.

  • Last month saw both centres back Alcohol Awareness Week and support employees and members alike through a host of information
  • To demonstrate their commitment to the cause, both centres will be issuing free passes to anyone that mentions the phrase ‘dry January’ at reception, to encourage a healthy start to 2014
  • To claim your free three-day fitness pass, visit Perdiswell Park Golf Course or Worcester Swimming Pool and mention the phrase ‘Dry January’ to a member of staff

David Pugh, Contract Manager at Worcester, commented:

At Perdiswell Park Golf Course and Worcester Swimming Pool we are determined to help our local community achieve their best possible levels of health and fitness. Research has shown ‘Dry January’ to have numerous health benefits; University College London medical school and the New Scientist found that if you stop consuming alcohol for a month, you could see amazing health benefits such as the reversal of liver damage, improved brain functioning and weight loss. We want to help people really understand this and also see the importance of drinking in moderation throughout the year – starting 2014 as they mean to go on!
